MARTHA "MRS. CECIL" LAND, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital, following a lengthy battle with Alzheim-er's disease. She was born in Merriam, Ind. and graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1940. She previously worked at I&M Electric, Peerless Dry Cleaners, and was also a homemaker. A 50 year member of Wayndale OES 600, she was a dog lover, enjoyed NASCAR, and always helped those in need. She lived in Plant City, Fla. for 25 years, and in recent years attended Sarah Care and A Day Away Adult Day Care, where she enjoyed sing-alongs. Surviving are her daughter, Golda "Goldie" Land of Fort Wayne; beloved pets, Rusty and Frosty; sister, Mary Jane Paulus of Columbia City; sister-in-law, Viva Herron Cook of Montpelier, Ohio; brother-in-law, Russell Utley of Goshen; special friends, Liz Batten and Larry and Teresa Zent; and extended families; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Etta May (Addis) Herron; her husband, Cecil M. Land; two sisters, and three brothers. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco, with calling one hour prior to the service. Pastor Lane Burgland, officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
