Obituary from the "Bucks County Intelligencer," June 10, 1917, p. 3: NECROLOGY HENRY ALLEN
Henry Allen, a well known resident of Point Pleasant, died Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock, in his 75th year.
He was a blacksmith by trade and worked at his trade until six years ago when he was taken with heart trouble. Before his illness, he was a very active man. He had resided at Point Pleasant thirty-one years.
Surviving him are a widow and two sons and one daughter. William Allen, of Newark; Harry Allen of Point Pleasant, and Mrs Frank Brillman; also ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also one sister, Mrs. Susan Holdsworth, of Washington, D. C.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Additional note by James Allen Rogers (#47306950)
Henry and his sister Susan were probably orphaned as children. Henry was a young boy in the Joseph and Hannah Fretz household of Solebury Twp. (1850 Census). Sixty years later an elderly Hannah Fretz is listed as a “boarder” in his household (1910 Census). Joseph and Hannah Fretz are buried adjacent to Henry and Annie Allen's plot in the same cemetery. The Fretz’s are in plot A24, and the Allens are in plot A22.
The 1880 Census for Joseph and Hannah Fretz also shows a 6 y.o. “William H. Allen” (b PA) in their household, and he was surely Henry and Annie's son. William was listed as a son in Newark NJ in Henry’s 1917 obituary and also in Annie M. Allen’s 1919 obituary.
