Alfred Lewis Cripe, 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:40 p.m. at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born on June 1, 1923 in Benton County, he was the son of Earnie and Bertha E. (Zolmon) Cripe.
An Indiana native, he relocated to Jackson, Michigan where he worked in a foundry. He also lived in Mulberry, Florida, for a period of time and he currently resided with his niece, Becky Ross, in Columbia City.
Survivors include a son, Alfred Cripe, Jr. of McCallister, Oklahoma; a niece, Becky Ross of Columbia City; sister, Lucille (Donald) Dodd of Constantine, Michigan; a brother, Delbert (Shirley) Cripe of Columbia City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Brumbaugh, Opal Johnston, Elizabeth Boggs, Marguarite Striegel, Dorothy Dodd, Beverly Summers, Lily Mae Cripe and Mary Francis Cripe, brothers, Earnie, Eugene, Edgar, Robert and Charlie Cripe.
A graveside service is Monday, October 20, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, with Pastor John Cummings of Bible Community Church officiating.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Cripe to Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
