Joseph was the son of George W. & Martha Moose. He was born in Monroe Co., OH. He married Lucinda Y. Long (approx. 1860)and had two children; John W. Moose & Emma D. Moose Barnes. Joseph was a Private in Ohio Inf, 92nd Reg, Co. C during the Civil War. He was captured on Sept 20, 1863 near Chickamauga, GA. He was reported to have died at Andersonville Prison.
