Lila Mae Mefford Stepp

Funeral services for Lila Stepp, 79 year old Gage resident, were at 10:00a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2003, at the United Methodist Church of Gage. The Reverend Nancy Woods officiated. Interment was in the DeBolt Cemetery at Arnett.

Lila Mae Stepp was born December 22, 1923, at Trinadad, Colorado, to James and Hattie (Mayfield) Mefford. She grew up in Higgins, Texas, where she attended school. On April 20, 1940, she married Claud Owen "Tootie" Stepp at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Gage, where they were engaged in farming, ranching, and also operated a dairy. Following the death of her husband, Lila continued to live in Gage, until 1997 when she made her home in Rogers, Arkansas to be near her son.

She attended the First Christian Church of Gage. Lila enjoyed quilting, and made quilts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, and loved to play Chinese checkers.

Mrs. Stepp died December 14, 2003 at the Beverly Health and Rehab in Rogers, Arkansas, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny in 1978, her parents, three brothers, and a sister.
