Berry Lanier Jr.
ALBANY — Berry Lanier Jr., 90, of Albany, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Albany Health Care.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany with the Rev. Bobby Moye officiating.
A native of Moultrie, Mr. Lanier had lived in Albany since 1940. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He participated in the Normandy landing and received the Purple Heart.
He was employed with Gibson's Department Store as a manager, worked with Savelle Jewelers, Meek's Appliance Store, and he was employed with Reed's Hardware Company for the last 14 years. He was a member of Raleigh White Baptist Church and VFW Post 2785.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Ruby "Roxanne" Lanier of Albany; a son, Kenneth Lanier and wife Marcia of Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Frank Renfroe and wife Sue of Woodbridge, Va., and Michael Renfroe of Albany; a brother, Rayford Lanier of Albany; and two grandchildren, Kevin Lanier of Houston, Texas, and Tracy Lanier of San Jose, Calif.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany.
