He was united in marriage October 27, 1945 at Garfield, MO to Carolee Hays.
He is survived by his wife, Carolee Barton of the home, Thayer, MO; three children, Geneva Smith and her husband, David of St. Charles, MO, Patty Barton of Thayer, MO, and Loren Barton and his wife, Shelly of Murray, NE; two grandchildren, Michelle Goodman and her husband, Gary of St. Peters, MO and Kevin Smith of St. Charles, MO; one sister, Fern Forester of Alton, MO; five brothers, Millard Barton of Alton, MO, Melvin Barton of Alton, MO, Gordon Barton of Mt. Home, AR, Carlos Barton of Marthasville, MO and Curtis Barton of West Plains, MO; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Barton was a member of the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church, and had been a Christian for many years.
Services were held Sunday, June 7, 1987 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Thayer, MO with Reverends Glenn Murray, Cody Freeman, and J.W. King officiating.
Pallbearers were Millard Barton, Gordon Barton, Curtis Barton, Melvin Barton, Carlos Barton, and Raymond Hays.
