Mrs. Smith was born April 4, 1920, in Arab, to John Frank and Jenny Leola Cook Henson. She was married to Dudlis Grover Smith, who preceded her in death.
She retired after many years of owning a jewelry store and being a homemaker.
She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church for 71 years and served many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Baileyton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Shelba Jean Smith and Tom Wetheral of Huntsville; three granddaughters and in-laws: Sandy Koralis and Jim Golding of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Johana Koralis and John Ramsey of Huntsville, and Elizabeth Ann Wetheral of Birmingham; and two great-grandsons: John Patrick Ramsey Jr. and Joseph Thomas Ramsey of Huntsville.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at New Friendship Baptist Church, with Buddy Strickland officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
