Orville Dean Jones, 75, Normal IL, died Nov 12, 1997 at his home. Services were held Nov. 15 at First United Methodist Church, Normal with burial in Bement Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born July 31, 1922 in Assumption, a s/o Roy Orville and Esther Burris Jones. He married Vena Loomis Feb 24, 1946 in Assumption. She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Michael of Normal; and John of Champaign; three daughters: Roberta Bortell, Normal; Peggy Wenzel, Mt Pleasant IA; and Rev. Marty Jones, Minneapolis MN; two brothers: Walter of Decatur and Rev. J. William Jones of Florida and Missouri; two sisters: Dorothy Ransford, Assumption and Sharon Grammer, Casper WY; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preced in death by his parents and one grandson, Matthew G. Wenzel.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Normal; owner/manager of several Shell Oil Co. stations in the Springfield area.

Memorials may be made to the Parish Nurse program of the church or to Laurel United Methodist Church of Springfield.
