DUFFY, Betty J., 83, homemaker, died Monday. Graveside services 1 p.m. Thursday, Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Green Country Funeral Home.
_______________

Graveside services for Betty Jane (Fulton) Duffy will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Officiating will be Chaplain Bill Holcomb. Arrangements are under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Ms. Betty J. Duffy was born November 12, 1927 in Springfield, MO and passed from this life on October 11, 2010at the age of 82 years. Betty grew up in the Springfield area with only one brother, Robert Fulton who died in WWII. Betty later married Ishmael Neal Duffy and was happily married for many years. They had no children together, but she helped raise a step son, Roy Lee Duffy. Betty and Ishmael lived in Porter, Oklahoma for many years and was a faithful wife and homemaker until her husband's passing on September 16, 1993. Betty then moved to Tahlequah where she resided at the Green acres Retirement home for about 15 years. She really appreciated all the care and love that she received from the staff and residents at Green Acres. She especially loved the companionship of the owner, Ms. Helen Farris. Because of her age and declining health, she was moved to the Grace Living Center in 2008 where she lived very happily until her passing. She then made a lot of new friends and acquaintances at the nursing home and seemed to enjoy her stay while she was there. Betty was thankful for all the nursing care and quality time that they spent with with her. Ms. Deneace White and Ms. Christy Flute became very close friends with Ms. Betty and began calling her "Fluffy Duffy". All the staff will greatly miss Betty and her calm and quiet spirit at the facility. During the last three months, Betty came under the care of Horizon Hospice where she again met and made a lot of new friends with the staff. She will be missed by all the nurses, aids and staff as well. Betty was a born again believer and was saved and baptized in 1993 at the Blessed Hope Baptist church in Tahlequah where she became a very faithful member. Betty loved her church, her brothers and sister in Christ, and especially became very fond of her Pastor, Bill R. Holcomb. She would never let anyone say anything bad about her pastor or her churc without letting them know her feelings about the subject. She never liked to miss any services at all, being faithful on Sunday's, Wednesday's, revivals, prayer services and outings. In 17 years of Christian service, she missed about 5 services due to her health. Pastor Bill Holcomb and all the people at Blessed Hope will miss her presence and smile, and her continuous giving of her coloring posters, special what nots and most of all, her Porter peaches. She loved going to the Porter Peach Festival every year and promising peaches to everyone she met, and filling most of those promises. Betty was unique as a person, sweet as a lady and blessed as a Christian. She is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who she loved and served for all these years, waiting on everyone who knew and loved her, and we are sure that she has some heavenly peaches she has picked for us. Ms. Betty is smiling now forever in the presence of Jesus and al the saved and redeemed. She outlived all of her known family, but leaves behind a lot of friends; John and Helen Farris; the residents at Grace Living Center; and all the members of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Betty was also very thankful to all the nursing care and staff at the Horizon Hospice in Tahlequah.
