Mrs. Lester (Agnes) Gutman Christensen, 65, postmistress at St. Cloud for 25 years before retiring in 1974, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, July 20, 1979, at American Healthcare Center where she resided for the past two years.
She was born Nov. 27, 1913, at St. Cloud, a daughter of the late Ben and Rose Dietz Baus. She was married to Kenneth Gutman on April 23, 1941, and he died in 1948. On May 2, 1972, she was married to Lester Christensen.
Mrs. Christensen was a member of St. Cloud Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and National Association of Retired Postmasters.
Surviving are her husband of Fond du Lac; a son, Dennis of St. Cloud; three grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Irene Young of Milwaukee and Mrs. Florence Johnson of Fond du Lac; and three brothers, Roman Baus of Oshkosh, John Baus of St. Cloud and Joseph Baus of Milwaukee. A son, brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cloud Church. The Rev. Arthur Nicholai will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends of Mrs. Christensen may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
