Riverdale – Our loving Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Great Great-Grandma, Mary Meikle Walsh died March 19, 2010.
She was born April 19, 1916 in Lafayette, Colorado to James Meikle and Tamar Ann Irwin. She was the youngest of nine children and missed her 94th birthday by exactly one month. She married Edward H. Walsh of Fredrick, Colorado one January 7, 1935.
Their marriage was later solemnized on March 24, 1953 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were converted to the LDS Church in 1951. The Walsh family has resided in Ogden, Utah since 1942 and raised a family of five children.
Surviving are two sons, Harold Walsh (wife Karen) of Clinton, Utah; Jerry Walsh (wife Roseanna) of Roy, Utah; two daughters, Roberta Carling of Ogden, Utah; Carol Van Meeteren (husband Dale) of Riverdale, Utah. Mary was preceded in death by her second daughter Ruth Walsh of Denver, Colorado. She left behind 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Mary loved her family with everything she had from the moment they were born. She could never get enough of babies and we know if there is a nursery in Heaven that is where she will be found. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We can take comfort in knowing that she is so happy to be reunited with her husband, daughter, parents and siblings. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Inspiration Hospice and the Heritage Park Care Center for their quality care and friendships.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park 836 36th St. Ogden, UT. Friends and family may call from 10-12pm the same day prior to services at the mortuary.
