Guide Rock resident Darrell Wester, 79, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at his home. Services are 9:30 a.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. James Brackett officiating.
Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Saltville Cemetery in Mitchell County, Kansas.
Mr. Wester was born January 4, 1921, to Ferdinand and Bertha (Ruffner) Wester in Shelby County, Missouri.
He traveled in Lincoln County, Kansas, to work harvest.
On December 25, 1942, he married Merna Lee Pruitt. They divorced in 1962.
In 1989 he moved from Northbranch, Kansas, to Guide Rock. He had worked as a farmer.
Survivors are two sons, Gene of Pasadena, California, and Steve of Beatrice; one sister, Mary Fifer of Shelbina, Missouri; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Paul; five brothers; and one sister.
