Prominent Provo businessman dies.

Joseph Frederick Ahlander, 74, of Provo died May 4, 1992 in Provo.

He was born November 23, 1917 in Provo, Utah, a son of Joseph Walter and Lucile Ferguson Ahlander.

He married Elaine Brown on Dec. 19, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was educated in Provo and attended Brigham Young University.

He held the office of High Priest in the Oak Hills 6th Ward.

He served in many church positions such as bishop, high council, ward clerk and many others. He served as a missionary in Sweden and later with his wife in England-London-South where he was director of the London Temple Visitors Center and a counselor in the bishopric in the Clapham Ward in London.

He served as president of the Provo Kiwanis Club and served on the board of directors for the Provo Chamber of Commerce and Salt Lake Gift Show.

At the time of his death he was president of Ahlander Wholesale Hardware.

Mr. Ahlander is survived by his wife, Elaine Brown Ahlander, of Provo; four sons and one daughter, James F. Ahlander, Gilbert, Arizona; David B. Ahlander, Los Angeles, California; Michael B. Ahlander, Stephen B. Ahlander and Ann A. Tucker, all of Orem, Utah; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Afton Ahalander Dahlquist, Boise, Idaho and Diane Ahlander Christensen, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral services will be Thurs., May 7, 1992 at 12 noon in the Oak Hills Sixth Ward, 2000 No. 1500 East, Provo.

Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, Wed. 6-8 p.m. or at the Church one hour prior to service.

Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
