Mr. Sabatke was born on January 1, 1902 in Merrill the son of the late Mr and Mrs August Sabatke. On January 4, 1923 he married Ella Jaeger in Merrill. She survives.
He was employed at the Semling Menke Company in Merrill prior to his retirement. Mr. Sabatke was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill.
Survivors besides his wife include a daughter Mrs. Lylas Berndt, Mrs Raymond Schlueter and Mrs. Donald Foster all of Merrill; five sons, Clifford, Lavern both of Merrill, Jack of Watonga, OK, Leslie Jr. and Larry both of Merrill. He is further survived by three brothers, Gilbert and Ellsworth both of Merrill and two sisters Mrs Leona Klebenow of Wauwatosa and Mrs. Arvilla Riemer of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 12, 1974 at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ. The Rev's Dale G. Kuck and Jonathan Knecht officiated and burial was in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. A visitation was held after 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the Taylor Funeral Home and after 9:00 Am on Thursday at the church.
