Black Mountain - Aaron Franklin Bud Belt, 82, of Black Mountain went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center following a period of declining health. Born in Greenville, SC, he moved to the Woodfin area of Asheville as an infant and had been a resident of Black Mountain for over 55 years.

He was the last surviving child of the late Riley and Mattie Reed Belt. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Imogene; a son, Aaron F. Belt Jr.; and an infant daughter. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He was a loyal employee of CP&L (Progress Energy) for 43 years, a 32nd degree Mason, past master of the Black Mountain Lodge, past chairman of the town planning board, past president of the Black Mountain Jaycees, and past president of the NC Jaycees. He was a precinct judge representing the Democratic Party, and a former chairman of the Black Mountain ABC Board.

He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Ben Elliott of Taylors, SC; a son and his wife, Keith and Lisa Belt of Old Fort; six grandchildren, Brian and Ryan Wilson of Charlotte, Khristie Childress and Jessica Belt of Swannanoa and Chase and Mikayla Belt of Old Fort; two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Black Mountain of which he was a member, usher and former Sunday School Teacher. The. Rev. Dr. David Rayburn will be officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.

Masons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at Harwood Home for Funerals where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

We are establishing a trust fund in memory of Bud to be used by staff members at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in their times of need.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mountain Ridge Wellness Center, 611 Old US Highway 70 East, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Please specify in memory of Aaron Belt.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA's, housekeepers, administrators and Dr. Joe Frazer at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center for their love, care and compassion for our dad.
