James H. Perrins Jr., 64, of Conwell Street in Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Jeanes Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., as a result of complications from a bone marrow transplant he had during his battle with leukemia. Born October 13, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late James H. and Nellie Newberry Perrins.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, he served in Vietnam aboard the USS Sacramento.

Jim had a 35-year career as a pressman beginning with Mebane Printing in 1972. The company merged with Blasi Printing, where he remained until retiring in 2007.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening, and had a true love for animals, especially his dogs.

He was enthusiastic when it came to fishing, hunting and riding his quad at his campsite in Mehoopany, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, the former Maribeth Carroll; daughters, Cheryl and her husband, William Smith, Wilkes-Barre; Michele and her husband, Keith Garren, Mountain Top, and Jamie and her husband, Roger Tredinnick Jr., Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Brianna and James Smith, Keith Jr., and Christopher Garren, and Kaitlyn and Daniel Tredinnick; a sister, Janice and her husband, Edward Harfman, Parsons; as well as his dogs, Tyler and Lucy.

Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Wyoming.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
