Emma Almira Rothrock was the fifth of nine known children of Isaac Rothrock (1825-1899) and Anna Maria Schnee Rothrock (1822-1918), who married 20 Aug 1854 at Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. In 1855 the family moved from Pennsylvania to Ogle County, Illinois, and then in 1856 to Iowa.

Emma married Lafayette (or LeFayette?) Stanton (1861-1950) on 16 Mar 1887 at Blairsburg, Hamilton County, Iowa. The family moved to Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota where all of their four known children were born, namely:

1. Ethel Martha Stanton Huotte (1888-1931)
2. Bessie Mabel Stanton Dodd Hughes Trombley (1891-1993)
3. Pearl Carol Stanton Hughes (1891-1945)
4. Roy Albert Stanton (1896-1983)

LeFayette was a life long dairyman. Sometime between 1900 and 1910 the family left Duluth and moved to Bellingham, Whatcom County, Washington where the parents spent the remainder of their lives.
