Gertrude Kujava was born on September 12, 1914 in Wright Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Przybylski) Kujava. She was raised in Wright Township where she attended country school. Gertrude worked at Armour Meat Co. in St. Paul after her schooling. On September 30, 1936, she married Edmund Kasprowicz. They made their home in the Strandquist area where they farmed. Edmund died on September 17, 1991.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning and cooking. Gertrude made afgans for each child and grandchild. She was always willing to help out family.
Gertrude was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and a Golden member of the Ladies Aide.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Jeanette Berthold of Arvilla, ND, Bernadine (Deacon Courtney) Abel of Strandquist, MN and Vivian (Larry) Srnsky of Goodridge, MN; daughter-in-law, Margaret Kasprowicz of Warren, MN; eleven grandchildren, Gerald (Lori) Berthold, Ramona (Fred) Kocher, Jay (Jill) Gratzek, Scott (Michelle) Gratzek, Roderick Gratzek, Rhonda (Todd) Mack, Mitchell Srnsky, Cynthia Larson, Donna (Trent) Bazey, Darryle (Jodi) Kasprowicz and Chad (Kelsey) Kasprowicz; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchilden; sister, Rufina Shoquist of Apple Valley, CA; brother, Evald (Mary) Kujava of Strandquist, MN; sisters-in-law, Dolores Kujava of Thief River Falls, MN, Evelyn Kujava and Clara Kaprowicz of Warren, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund; son, Victor; sons-in-law, Rudolph Gratzek and Raymond Berthold; sisters, Lorraine Pietruszewski and Antoinette Benke and brothers, Thomas Kujava and Harry Kujava.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 AM on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN. VISITATION: Starts at 9:00 AM on Friday morning at the church with a 9:45 AM rosary. INTERMENT: Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Florian, MN.
