BENNINGTON — Arlene R. Crowley, 82, widow of George E. Crowley Sr., a former resident of Morgan Street, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.
Born in Springfield, Mass., April 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Eva (Dushane) McClelland. She received her education in the Bennington schools.
Mr. and Mrs. Crowley were married in July, 1954, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Mr. Crowley died Nov. 28, 1981.
In earlier years Arlene was employed at various mills in the area. Her home and family were her main interest. She especially enjoyed the time spent working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, three sons, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; her former husband, Harold Andrew, of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Arlene was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen Crowley; two sons, Robert Andrew and James Crowley; a grandson, Mark Andrew; and by two sisters and a brother, Eleanor Sheridan, Marion Brown and John McClelland.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bennington officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Entombment will take place at Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in the family lot in Hinsdillville Cemetery in the spring.
