Lawrence R. Spitzer, 94, Bismarck, died April 1, 2005, at a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at First Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Wisthoff officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Lawrence was born Oct. 6, 1910, at Bismarck, to Carl and Augusta (Benser) Spitzer, Burleigh County Pioneers. He was raised and educated in Bismarck and Deer Park, Wash. Lawrence married Pauline Hagstrom at Mandan in 1934. Lawrence farmed north of Bismarck and resided there until recently.

He had a passion for cars and enjoyed walking, the outdoors and visiting his coffee friends at Gateway Mall. He was a longtime member of the Bismarck Eagles club and attended the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia and Arden Hagerott, Mandan, and Phyllis Berreth, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Donavon and Reba Hagerott, Mandan, Jonathan and Karen Hagerott, Kansas City, Kan., Nicole (Berreth) and Jeff Mindt, Sioux Falls, S.D., Mia (Berreth) and Karl Corrigan, Rochester, Minn., and Janel (Hagerott) and Chad Olson, Mandan; 11 great grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Pauline who died in 1997. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)
