Mrs. Irwin Alberts, 73, of 815 Revere Dr., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly early
Sunday morning at home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. John Lutze will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Alberts, nee Dorothy Tegge, was born Nov. 6, 1898, at Two Rivers, daughter
of the late William and Sophia Mahnke Tegge. She attended St. John Lutheran Day
School and was a graduate of Two Rivers High School with the Class of 1917. She
taught Sunday School at Two Rivers for many years.
She was married to Irwin Alberts Nov. 24, 1931, at Rockford, Ill. The couple
resided in Green Bay and Two Rivers before coming to Manitowoc in 1935.
Mrs. Alberts was a member of Ladies Aid of which she served as president,
vice-president and treasurer, the Lutheran Layman League of which she served as
secretary and was a sponsor of the Lutheran Hour. She was a past member and
treasurer of the Band Mothers. During World War II she was active in obtaining
block leaders for the Red Cross Drive. Mrs. Alberts was also a den mother for
the Cub Scouts.
Prior to her marriage she had been employed at Mirro Aluminum Co. offices at
Manitowoc and Two Rivers. She kept books and clerked at Rummele's Jewelry Store.
Later she was employed by the Chicago North Western Railroad and worked in Green
Bay and Two Rivers for many years.
Survivors include her husband, a son, a sister, Mrs. Erwin (Evelyn) Sampe, of
Manitowoc and two grandchildren of Manassas, Va. (Survivors edited for privacy)
Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 5 p.m.
Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and then at the church from noon until the time
of service. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour or the church organ fund.
