Mrs. William J. Ahrens Sr. (above) of 1302 N. 11th St., Manitowoc, died late
Thursday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient
six weeks. Mrs. Ahrens was __.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Methodist Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Donald T. Stannard will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
The former Anna Donath was born Dec. 30, 1861, at Fillmore, Wis., daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William Donath. She was married in that community to William
Ahrens April 11, 1891, and the couple then came to Manitowoc where the husband
died in 1945.
Mrs. Ahrens was past president of the Women's Society of Wesley Methodist Church
and a charter and oldest member in Wisconsin of the United Commercial Travelers
Auxiliary.
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Milbrook of Chicago, Mrs. Homer
Scherer of Manitowoc and Mrs. Carl Kopplin of Evanston, Ill; three sons, Elwood
and William Jr., of Two Rivers and Clifford of Manitowoc; two brothers, Albert
of Milwaukee and John of Fillmore; a sister, Mrs. Henry Hunholz of Milwaukee; 12
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m.
Saturday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in
state until the hour of service.
