HARRY H. AHRENS

Harrison Ahrens, Son of August Ahrens, Dies at Camp Custer Today—
Was 28 Years Old

Messages received in the city this afternoon brought news of the death of
another Manitowoc county boy for his country and the service star in the flag at
the home of August Ahrens, on route No. 6, this city, has been turned to gold.
Harrison Ahrens, 28, died at Camp Custer, Michigan at noon today, following an
attack of illness which he suffered recently and which summoned his father to
Camp Custer yesterday. The boy's death is believed to have been due to
pneumonia.

The body will be brought to this city for burial, accompanied by the father, who
reached Camp Custer this morning and who sent the message of the death of his
son to Rev. Schellhase to break the news to the bereaved mother.

Harrison Ahrens, hero, though he never faced the German guns, left here on April
27 with a contingent from the First district.

He is survived by his parents and sisters and brothers, one of the latter being
in the naval service.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the German M.E. church,
Rev.
Schellhase officiating.
