KILLED BY A FALLING TREE.

Joseph Covode Met Death While Working in a Ligonier Lumber Camp.

ONE OF WELL-KNOWN FAMILY

Joseph Covode, of near Ligonier, aged about 45 years, was almost instantly killed about ten o'clock Tuesday morning by being struck by a falling tree.

He was working for Pershing & Horrell, a lumber firm from New Florence and was engaged in erecting a saw mill near Denny's bridge.

While clearing away underbrush a tree which stood in the way and which some of the other men were cutting down, broke off and fell, striking Covode squarely on the head. His skull was crushed in and he died within a few minutes.

Joseph Covode is a son of the late Hon. George Covode and belonged to one of the best known families in the Ligonier Valley. He is a brother of Mrs. Samuel Pershing and Mrs. Houston Geary, both of New Florence.

His remains were carried to Ligonier and prepared for burial.
