She graduated from Wakefield High School and Luther College in Wahoo. She attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis where she met her husband, Bob. She taught school in Genoa and served as parish worker and organist in Cambridge, Minn.

Elaine was an accomplished pianist and organist and played regularly for church services at Trinity and Zion Lutheran churches in Axtell for more than 50 years. She was accompanist for The Messiah and Master Singers, but her greatest pleasure came in being an integral part of the Kingdom Party worship services each week for the residents of Bethphage Mission.

She was a member of the Axtell Federated Women's Club and Holdrege Tre Kroner Scandinavian Society. One of the most important activities in Elaine's life was coordinating, being host for and guiding Stonecroft Friendship Bible Coffees.
