Harry D. Bird Jr., age 70 of Washington, died Thursday, October 7, 2010. In Golden Living Care Facility, North Strabane, flollowing a brief battle with ALS (Amnyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) ( Lou Gehrig's Disease).
He was born July 27, 1940 in Washington. The son of the late Harry D. Sr., and Gladys Bedillion Bird.

Harry attended Trinity Schools and went on to be a bridge foreman for PennDot, after serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1999.
He was a member of the Washington Moose, Lodge #22, the VFW and Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 of the American Legion.

On October 29, 1966 in Washington he married Linda Gough, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons David W. of Washington and Michael G. (Susan) of Beaver, three daughters Jodi Bird Shelton and Kimberly (Ron) Pinkerton of Washington and Kathleen (Jim) Bedillion of Marianna, nine grandchildren Kyle and Farrah Bird, Aubrey Blakey, Joshua, Jonathan, and James Bird, Hannah and Haelinn Pinkerton and Chase Bedillion.
Deceased are a brother, Delmer E. Bird and a sister, Irene Berisford.

Friends will be received noon to 3 PM and 7 to 9 PM Sunday October 10, 2010 in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Pennsylvania where services will be held Monday October 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
