Joseph Baxter Passes Away
Retired Farmer, 80, Dies This Morning
Joseph W. Baxter, age 80, a retired Monroe county farmer, died this morning at his home, 325 West Fifteenth Street, following an illness of four weeks. He had been bedfast since last Thursday. Mr. Baxter, who formerly operated a farm east of Bloomington, attended the Friendship Church. He leaves the widow, Mrs. Lucretia Baxter, one son, Henry A Baxter, Bloomington; a step-mother, Mrs. Mahala Baxter, two brothers, Henry B. Baxter and Norval Baxter east of Bloomington; four half-sisters, Mrs. John Butcher of Iowa; Mrs. Everett Myers, Mrs. John McGown, and Mrs. Howard Rice, all ot this county, and one grandchild, Ruby Faye Baxter. Services will be conducted by Rev. Oscar Swindler at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Arthur Day Chapel. Burial will be in Valhalla Memoria Park. The body will remain at the Day Mortuary preceding the services.
