Philetus Chamberlain was the son of Philander Chamberlain 1788 and Malina Treat.

He married Julia L Barnes, the daughter of Jeffrey Samuel Barnes and Lecretia Storke, in Mendon, Monroe, New York on December 31, 1837.

The couple lived in Mendon, and had the following children:

Mary Ester 1839, married George Pomeroy Graves, lived in Wolcott, Seneca, New York, four children.

Loisa 1842, married Horace Field, lived in Jackson, Michigan.

Philena Lovenia Letena Lena 1846, married Albert Eugene Goff, lived in Mendon and Rochester, Monroe County, New York, one child.

Alice Julia 1854, married Dudley D Allerton, lived in Mendon and in Bath, Steuben, New York.

Philetus 1855, married Elizabeth Stone Van Dorn, lived in Rochester, served as prominent attorney, two children.

Emma Cookingham 1864, married Benjamin F Davis, lived in Chicago, Illinois.

Philetus Chamberlain Dead

The Father of a Prominent Rochester Attorney Died in Mendon Saturday

Philetus Chamberlain, Sr., an old and esteemed resident of Mendon, died at his home in that town late Sunday night in the eighty-second year of his age.

Mr. Chamberlain ws born in Mendon in 1814. He left there in his early boyhood and resided at Rose, Wayne county, until 1866, when he returned to his native town and purchased a large farm of 300 acres, upon which he resided until his death. He has been a staunch Republican in politics since the formation of the party, has always been a very active worker in his party and was very proud of the fact that he had always voted a straight party ticket.

Six children survive, as follows: Mrs. George P. Graves, of Wolcott; Mrs. Horace Field, of Jackson, Mich.; Mrs. B. F. Davis, of Chicago; Alice J., of Mendon, and Mrs. Eugene Goff and P. Chamberlain, Jr. of this city. The furneral wil be held on Wednesday afternoon.
