Scott Litton was the 12 yr old son of Congressman Jerry Litton. August 3, 1976, the Litton family boarded a small plane in their hometown of Chillicothe, MO. Jerry Litton was heading to Kansas City, MO on election night to claim the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate he won in a tough primary. Just after takeoff, Litton's plane crashed into a soybean field next to the Chillicothe airport and exploded into a ball of flames. Litton, his wife, Sharon, both 37, and their two children, Linda, 13, and Scott, 12, were killed, along with family friend and pilot, Paul Rupp Jr. and his son, Paul III.
