BERT A. AMOS JR.
AGE: 74 BRICK

Bert A. Amos Jr., 74, of Brick, entered into eternal rest with Jesus on Wednesday Oct. 6, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Amos was the owner of Bert Amos Stables. A renowned horseman, he bred, raised and trained horses in Bowling Green, Ohio and in Brick throughout his entire life.

He was a lifelong member of the United States Trotting Association and was inducted into the Ohio Horseman Hall of Fame.

(Correction sent by Bert's son: "Not sure where you get your info from but it was my grandfather (Bert Sr) not my dad (Bert Jr) who was inducted into the hall of fame in 2005.".

He and his wife, Kim also were the co-owners of Allen Farms on Herbertsville Road, Brick. Mr. Amos was a member and trustee of Allenwood Church, Allenwood.

He was born and raised in Tontogany, Ohio and moved to Brick 29 years ago.

Mr. Amos was predeceased by his parents, Bert A. Sr. and Nellie Amos; and a sister, Marjorie Kuder.

Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Kim E. Amos; son, Bert A. III; daughters, Becky Marie Shapiro and her husband Mark and Patti Jo Haft and her husband Arthur, all of Florida; sister, Floreine Vollmar of Bowling Green, Ohio; nieces, Audrey Gilliland and her husband Gary of Napoleon, Ohio, and Melissa Tocci and her husband Chris of Jackson, along with several other nieces and nephews. He also was a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Allenwood Church, 3109 Atlantic Ave., Allenwood. Burial will follow at the Allenwood Church Cemetery directly behind the church.

Flowers and donations to the Allenwood Church, P.O. Box 112, Allenwood, NJ 08720, would be appreciated.
