William John Buchner Sr., 71, of 726 Holder Road, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at First Baptist Church, with burial Seivern Baptist Church, Wagener. The Revs. Dr. Ronnie Ridenour and Riley Huckaby will officiate. Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Batesburg. Honorary pallbearers will be Pastors and Staff members of The Ridge and Edisto Associations. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Milton Shealy Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batesburg Building Fund, 436 W. Church St., Batesburg-Leesville 29006.

Mr. Buchner died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at home. Born in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Fred William and Catherine Elinore Kreuger Buchner. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a retired Baptist Minister and Draftsman at Savannah River Site. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg, Mason, and author of Local History. He pastored churches in the Aiken, Lexington, Edisto and Ridge Associations for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Cawley Buchner of Batesburg; sons, William John Buchner Jr., Timothy Paul Buchner, both of Wagener; daughters, Catherine B. Osteen of Leesville, Rebecca B. Padgett of Pelion; brothers, Robert William Buchner, James Albert Buchner, both of Apollo, Pa.; sister, Mrs. Thomas (Lois) Walsh of Leechburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren.
