Mrs. Ella Clark passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Farrington, Thursday, December 12, at 6 o'clock p. m. Three weeks ago she suffered a severe heart attack and for a time it was hoped that she would recover. The end came quickly and peacefully.
Ella Maranda (Stanford) Clark was born in Zoar, Mass., October 16, 1866, one of the seven children of the late Joseph and Betsey (Payne) Stanford. Her early life was spent in Rowe, Mass., where she received her education. On November 23, 1887 she was united in marriage with Zetter I. Clark, son of the late John L. and Eliza (Phipps) Clark of Wilmington, where the remainder of her life was spent.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Clark. A son, she died at the age of three days; a son, Alfred S. and a daughter Mable, wife of Howard Farrington. The son and daughter reside in Wilmington.
He life was one of industry and devotion to her family and home. She was active, often working to the limit of her strength until the heart attack three weeks ago. For four years she had worked at Childs Tavern for Mr. and Mrs. Crafts and had worked at other places in the village. For several years she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Farrington. Mr. Clark died May 15, 1925. Besides her two children she is survived by two sisters. Mrs. Jennie Ballou of Rowe, Mass., and Mrs. Alta Rotherham of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; four grandchildren Herman, Blanche, Robert and Marilyn Farrington; also a large number of nephews and nieces.

At an early age she united with the Baptist church of Rowe, Mass.; and some years ago she became a member of the Wilmington Baptist church, joining by letter. She was also a member of the local W. C. T. U. [Women's Christian Temperance Union] and of the Baptist Ladies Aid.
The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, her pastor, Rev. M. E. Barter conducting the services and speaking words of comfort to the bereaved family. There were many beautiful flowers showing the love and respect in which the departed was held. Burial was in Riverview cemetery beside her late husband.
The hearers were her son, Fred, and five nephews, Walter Stanford and Harold Rotherham of Shelburne Falls, Mass., Weston Brown of Wilmington; Henry Stanford of Charlemont, Mass., and Hugh Dunn of Hartford, Conn.
