Richard D. Johnson Oct 04 1932 - Feb 27 2004

Richard D. Johnson was born October 4, 1932, in Sioux Falls, SD. He attended school at Cathedral High School. In 1951, he joined the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. Following his discharge from service, he returned to Sioux Falls and became employed as a city utility worker. He then moved to California.

He married Tracy Tolliver at Riverside, California. Dick became an insurance agent for Blue Cross / Blue Shield, and then worked for a steel mill. The family moved to Texas in the early 1970's. Dick lived in Casper, WY for a period of time where he worked for the Burlington Railroad. He returned to San Antonio in 1982.


He loved reading the Bible. He enjoyed fishing and hunting for pheasants, ducks and geese. Dick was a great provider for his family. Throughout his life, he maintained a deep religious faith and loved to surround himself with people. His outgoing spirit will be well missed.


He was a member of the Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX, and the VFW Post 628.


Forever grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Darrell Johnson, San Antonio, TX, Timothy Johnson, Chamberlain, SD and Tracy, San Antonio, TX; stepdaughter, Marylee Harrison and her husband, Hunter, Greenboro, NC; brother, Donald J. Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Lorraine Yager, Sioux Falls, SD; and nieces and nephews.
