My husband's great-grandfather.

Charles Hewitt was about six years old when he came with his parents to Brighton, Michigan and fourteen when they moved to Fremont in 1947. He acquired 40 acres of land, which he and his family farmed for many years.

He married Hellen (Helen) Lucian Adams in 1859. The 1895 County Atlas states the following; "Mr. Goodspeed was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served the people 20 years as Township Treasurer, the duties of which office he discharged in a manner of great respect to himself."

In 1912, he and Hellen made an agreement with their son, George, for him and his family to take over the operation of the farm. After Charley's death in 1912, Hellen lived in the homestead with George and his wife, Rena, until she died in the summer of 1929.
