East Toledo Man Hit by Truck; Dies
An East Toledo man died yesterday in Riverside Hospital about 90 minutes after he was struck by a pickup truck at Starr Avenue and Arden Place, according to Toledo Police.
Carl Dunaway, 89. of 540 Starr, was pronounced dead at the hospital about 1:30 pm, according to a hospital spokesman.
Police said that Mr. Dunaway was crossing Starr when he was struck by the Truck driven by Glen Davenport, 22, of 1644 Mahala St., Oregon, Which was eastbound on Starr.
Police said that Mr. Davenport will be summoned to appear in Toledo Municipal Court on a charge of vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Services for Carl K. Dunaway, 88, of Starr Avenue, who died Monday in Riverside Hospital after being struck by a pickup truck at Starr Avenue and Arden Place, will be at 11 am tomorrow in the Eggleston-Meinert-Welsh Mortuary, Main Street. Mr. Dunaway, a veteran of World War I, was a pipefitter 47 years for the Puere Oil Co., retiring in 1961. Surviving are his son, Morris and Daughters, Mrs. Juanita Stockmaster, Mrs. Frances Beiberbach, Mrs. Beulah Stockmaster, and Mrs. Marjorie Sautter. The Body will be in the mortuary after 2 today. The family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
