Thomas J. Adams, 79, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.C.
Dunning of 1805 Washington street, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m., from the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home, the Rev. F.C. St. Clair of the St. James Episcopal church
officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born in England in 1860 and when a young man came to this country
with his parents. The family located in Chicago where he engaged in the bakery
business. In 1900 he came to Manitowoc and opened a bakery and furniture
business on Washington street. Forty-five years ago he completed a course in
mechanotherapy and in 1916 returned to Sheboygan to establish a practice. He
continued there until 1934 when he retired and came here to make his home with
his daughter, Mrs. Dunning.
Survivors are the widow, Mary Spencer Adams, four daughters, Mrs. Dunning, Mrs.
Joseph Monka, Mrs. William Boeder, Mrs. C.O. Lewis, all of this city; three
sons, Alexander and Samuel of this city, Thomas J. of Springfield, Mass.; 12
grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren. Three step-children by a former marriage also survive.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Sunday evening at 7 o'clock
until the hour of the services.
