STRATTON -- Violet M. Stahly, of Stratton, Neb., died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at El Dorado Manor in Trenton, Neb., at the age of 93.
She was born Dec. 9, 1914, south of Quinter, Kan., to Richard and Iva (Averill) Hussey. Violet graduated from high school in Goodland, Kan., in 1932. In 1935, she moved to Stratton, where she was employed at the hospital and the Ball grocery store.
On Oct. 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Reginald Stahly at Julesburg, Colo. They lived at Denver, Colo., until 1941, when they moved to the farm north of Stratton where they lived until 2005.
Violet was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Stratton and was active for many years in the United Methodist Women.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Iva Hussey; her husband, Reginald; infant sister, Dora; sister, Flossie Crouse; and brothers, Phay Hussey and Stephen Hussey.
Survivors include her son, Richard Stahly and wife, Delores of Stratton; granddaughter, Elizabeth Maris and husband, Roger of Wauneta, Neb.; grandson, Robert Stahly of Stratton; sister Elda Conrad of Holdrege, Neb.; sister-in-law, Mildred Simmons and husband, Glen of Lincoln, Neb.; great-granddaughter, Erica Greene and husband, Aaron of Imperial, Neb.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation is today until 5 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stratton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at the church with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
