Word has been received of the death at St. Petersburg, Fla., of Arthur Abendschein,
68 (photo), former Soo Line Road agent in Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. W. Gieschen of the Grace Lutheran Church will officiate.
He was born Sept. 20, 1887, at Neenah, attending Neenah schools and later enrolled
at Valparaiso Institute in Indiana, where he took up telegraphy. He was the Soo
agent here for 18 years and moved to Minneapolis where he took a position with the
C. and O. Railroad until ill health forced him to retire a few years ago. He and
his wife had gone to Florida in January to spend the winter. He was a member of the
Manitowoc lodge of Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by his wife, the former Olga Fehring of Manitowoc; a stepson, Raymond
Rudy of Minneapolis; two brothers, William of White Lake, Wis., and Edwin of Manitowoc;
sister, Mrs. Ella Hopfensberger of Kimberly, Wis.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
