Isaac Aastad, 72, retired commercial salesman, died today at the
home, 1104 North Eighth street. His health had failed since the
death of his wife two months ago. Funeral services will be held
Monday at 1:30 pm from the home and at two o'clock from the First
Lutheran church, of which Mr. Aastad was a member. Interment will
be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Aastad was born in Bamle, Norway,
in 1865 and when a boy came to America with his parents in 1871.
The family located in this city. He attended the public schools
of the city and in 1884 entered the employ of the O. Torrison
Company. He continued with the firm until 1909 when he joined the
Manitowoc Seed company as a salesman. Mr. Aastad continued with
this company until 1936, when he retired. Mr. Aastad was a member
of old Company H in the early nineties. He was also a member of
the United Commercial Travelers. In 1903 he married Miss Inga J.
Gilbert. She died August 18 of this year. Survivors are a son,
Clifford, Green Bay; two sisters, Miss Ingeborg M. Aastad, city,
Mrs. H.C. Aslakson, Valders; and a granddaughter, Joan Aastad,
Green Bay. The body will be moved to the Aastad home on North
Eighth street Sunday morning from the Frazier mortuary.
