Patrick James Walsh, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 25, 2010, in Dewey, Ariz. He was born on April 27, 1938, in Ft. Riley, Kan., to Elsie and Lambert Walsh.
Patrick's father was an army officer and, as a young child, Patrick and his family were relocated in several states as well as Italy and the Philippines when his father was transferred to different Army bases. Patrick served in the Navy and trained in Norman, Okla., as a signal corpsman, directing pilots practicing for aircraft landings.
At 6'3", Pat also had a big sense of humor and was quick to laugh. His serious side was as an artist whose oil paintings are so beautifully realistic, you feel that you are there.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Donna; three sisters, Arline, Mary and Betty; son Laurence; daughters Denise and Dianette; stepdaughters Lynne and Celeste; stepsons Todd and Jay and their spouses; and grandchildren Joshua, Jeremiah, Lily, Cliff, Elise and Clifford. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Emmanuel Lutheran, 7763 E. Long Look Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., with Pastor Kirk Anderson presiding. Internment will be at the National Cemetery in Prescott, Ariz., with the Patriot Guard Riders escort and a military memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 237 S. Montezuma, Prescott, AZ 86303 in Patrick's name in lieu of flowers.
Sunrise Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
