M.C. Ethridge, 89, was born April 19, 1921 in Waterloo, OK, the sixth child of eight born to Meddie and Sally Ethridge, died, Sept. 29, 2010. He was a life long resident of the Edmond area where he made many friends who greatly enriched his life. M.C. was married on Sept. 12, 1941 in Reno, Nevada, to Betty Jo Fleming, his beloved wife of 68 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Appaloosa during World War II. M.C. was employed by Safeway Stores, Inc. as location manager for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edmond, a Mason, a Shriner, a member and held various offices in the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and Sportsman's Club. He served 11 years as a member and chairman of the Fish and Game Commission of Arcadia Lake. M.C. remained an avid sportsman throughout his life. He loved to golf and fish and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren during his last years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Ethridge, parents, sisters, Thelma Campbell, Reba McClure and Velma Dee; brother, William (Bill) Ethridge, and great-great granddaughter, Chasity Hammer. He is survived by a sister, Alma Gunn; brother, Don Ethridge; daughters, Suzanne Fitzpatrick and Mona Kay Nomura; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 1, at the Historical Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation.
