A. F. Allen died Sunday at his home in Shelbyville. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy, received three hours before. Mr. Allen was born May 3, 1847, Parke county, IN, but had resided in this county since 1857. He was a citizen of Big Spring, later of Strasburg, serving as postmaster, and then serving his county two terms as county clerk. He also held many township offices in both Richland and Shelbyville townships. Mr. Allen is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John D. Stewardson, the fruits of his first marriage; by his second wife, formerly Allie J. Storm of Ash Grove; and their daughter, Mrs. Ruth Givan. He was a member of the Christian church, the Masonic Lodge and the Modern Woodmen. Funeral and burial services were held at Shelbyville Tuesday afternoon. - Windsor Gazette - Thursday - 27 May 1915
