Sylvester 'Bus' Harriger, 76 of Hawthorn, was dead on arrival at Brookville Hospital at 2 pm Saturday, March 11, 1989.

Born on May 25, 1912 in Alcola, he ws a son of Ernest and Lula (Bish) Harriger.

He married the former Garnet M Ferringer on April 4, 1940, she survives.

Mr. Harriger belonged to Oakland Church of God at Distant and was a member of the Men's Fellowship there. He was also a member of Hawthorn Lions Club and the United Mine Workers of American. He was a retired coal miner.

In additoin to his wife, Mr Harriger is survived by one son, Robert C Harriger of Lake Wales, Florida; one daughter, Mrs. William (Shirley) Gaston of Erie; three sisters, Mary Swineford of Brookville, Annie Barkefelt of Hawthorn and Elizabeth Bowersox of New Bethlehem; one brother, John Harriger of Mayport RD 2 and a nubmer of nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death, as well as one sister, Nellie Barkefelt, and one brother, Clyde Harriger.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Wednesday, March 15 at Oakland Church of God with Pastor Clarence E Dillon officiating.

Interment was in Hawthorn Cemetery.

The Charles D Alcorn Funeral Home at Hawthorn was in charge of arrangements.
