Thomas was born Oct. 14, 193, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., the son of Henry Franklin and Velma (Sissom) Acree. He served in the Army. He married Linda Smith on Aug. 16, 1991, in Dixon.
Thomas was a 32nd degree member of the Masons, and Sterling Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and pool player, and enjoyed playing cards, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of Dixon; for sons, Steve (Connie) Acree, Bobby (Melissa) Little, Dennis (Kathi) Milby, and Matthew (Julie) Milby; four daughters, Dawn (Dan) Blackburn, Pamela Little, Lynette (Matt) Roach, and Melissa (Andy) Schott; two brothers, Theodore (Leta) Acree and Bobby (Ruffa) Acree; one sister, JessieLee (Steve) Ciupek; two sisters-in-law , Shirley Acree and Lucille Acree; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Acree and James Acree.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Northside Baptist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Patricia Ciupek, pastor of Waldron Baptist Church, Waldron, Ind., officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,Dixon. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.
A memorial has been established.
