News Reaches City of Demise of Pioneer Woman Who Resided Here
Most of Her Life - Was Prominent in City
News reached here today of the death of Mrs. William Bach, a former
well known resident of the city, at Milwaukee, and arrangements are
being made to bring the body to this city city (sic) for burial. Mrs.
Bach had made her home at Milwaukee for the past several years.
Mrs. Bach was the widow of William Bach, an early day banker of the
city. Mr. Bach having built the building now occupied by the Savings
bank and he was engaged in banking there for some time. After his
death some years ago Mrs. Bach remained here and a few years ago took
up her home at Milwaukee with her daughter.
Had Mrs. Bach lived until April 22 she would have been 83 years old
having ben (sic) born in Germany on that date in 1830. During the
last two years of her life Mrs. Bach had been blind, the affliction
coming upon her suddenly, as previous to that time she had never been
troubled, not even having been required to wear glassses. Last fall
her health began to fail and for several weeks she has bee (sic)
feeble, death resulting from age.
Mrs. Bach had twice married, being wedded a second time to Mr. Bach
in 1856. One daughter by the first marriage, Mrs. Zabel, died six
years ago and Mrs. Bach is survived by her one child, Mrs. Reiter
of Milwaukee.
She was well known in the city and durig (sic) her residence here
was prominent in social circles.
It is probable that the bady (sic) will be brought here Tuesday for
burial.
