Joshua Ray Rake passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at the age of 20. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Joshua was born in Carrollton on the coldest July day on record. Carrollton was Joshua's home for the first 10 years of his life and where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. At the age of 10, Joshua moved to Southlake, where he soon bled Dragon green. Joshua graduated from Southlake Carroll High School in 2008 and was a student and football player at the University of North Texas at the time of his death. Joshua was a talented and devoted student and a stellar athlete. More than that, he was a loved and loving grandson, cousin, nephew and teammate and truly the best brother and son that anyone could have. He will be loved and missed by all. Joshua was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marvel Eugene Rake of Pampa, and stepsister, Aggie Alexandra Chance. Survivors: His father, Mitchel Douglas Rake; mother and stepfather, Karla Jean and Bobby Chance; brothers, Ryan Douglas and Matthew Eugene Rake; paternal grandmother, Beatrice Rake; maternal grandparents, Bob and Barbara Atteberry; stepsisters, Allison, Brittany and Abbey Chance; uncles and aunts, Buddy and Julie Rake of Phoenix, Ariz., Donna and Claude Armstrong of Celeste, Mike and Jennifer Rake of Lake Dallas, Pat and Michelle Rake of Hurst, Cliff and Leslie Atteberry and Chad Atteberry of Houston; girlfriend, Alysia Campbell; and numerous cousins, friends, coaches and teammates.
