Lera was born in Travis, Texas, to the late Richard E. and Margaret Pauline (Blakely) Menefee. She lived in the Rosebud area all of her life. She graduated from Rosebud High School and received her Associate's Degree in Nursing from McLennan Community College. Lera married Willie Adams April 14, 1931. She worked as a registered nurse in Rosebud, Marlin, and Temple. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rosebud.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Steen Menefee; and a sister, Betty Menefee.
Survivors include son, James Adams and wife, Judy (Lehman), of Mesquite; daughter, Bobbie Baldree, of Robinson; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Menefee, of Waco; and sisters, Doris Pickett and Lillie Mae Polozeck, both of George West, and Anna Chappell, of Robinson.
