Ed was a great man. He loved to joke around with everybody. He never failed to make the people around him smile or laugh.

Ed was born Acel Edwin Mendenhall, but changed his name when he went into the army during WWII. He dropped Acel and took his step father's last name. His two brothers did the same.

Ed was the father of seven children, and the grandfather of sixteen grandchildren. He passed a month before his first great child was born. He now has eightteen great grandchildren.

I have a lot of good memories of my grandfather. He was big on family and would do anything for any off us. He let my cousin live with him and Grandma while she finished high school. I lived with them also while in school.

My mom has a story she likes to tell about my grandpa setting in his arm chair reading the newspaper and the dogs chasing the pet rabbit around the chair. Eventually the rabbit would end up on Grandpa's lap while the dogs still ran around the chair looking for the rabbit.
