TRAPHILL - Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Brown, age 83 of 394 Swaringen Road, Traphill, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Brown was born in Surry County on October 31, 1926 to the late John Curtis and Alice Greenwood Bauguess. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by husband, Mack Monroe Brown, a son, Johnny Mack Brown, daughter, Elizabeth Brown, granddaughter, Elizabeth Billings, brother, William Bedford Bauguess, three sisters, Dorothy Bauguess, Ruth Bauguess and Bessie Bauguess. Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Alice Billings and husband Lester of Traphill, brother, Curtis Beale Bauguess and wife Linda of Wisconsin, two sisters, Esther Harrold of Traphill and Frances Lankford and husband Robert of Traphill. Grandchildren, Paul Billings, Phyllis Myers and husband Jimmy, Bobby Billings and wife Pamela and Wayne Billings and wife Courtney. Eleven Great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. October 5, 2010 at Austin Baptist Church by the Rev. Wesley Smith, the Rev. Keith Foster and the Rev. Bobby Dameron. Mrs. Brown will lie-in-state from 1:30 - 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brody Billings, Wayne Billings, Paul Billings, Matt Billings, William Billings and Jimmy Myers. The Brown family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9 p.m., October 4, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin.
